Track and field season is promising

As the track and field season approaches, one of the members who qualified for states last year and got eighth place. Lauryn Dougherty ‘19 has been a Varsity pole vaulter for three years now and knows how to prepare for a long and grueling track season that can take a toll on your body. She knows what it takes to be a state contender, not only as an individual but a team as well.

Dougherty also talks about the preparation and what it takes to have a fun and successful track season.

“I’m most excited to compete and train with some of my closest friends,” she said.

Dougherty has had very successful past track seasons and she says the that one of the keys to prepare her for that during preseason is “working out and eating healthy.”

As a team, Dougherty says that the track members are able to push each other every day after school when they have track practice in the Ram Bowl.

“Being able to push each other and compete against your own teammates is what makes you better,” she said.

During the season there are team goals, and then there are personal goals, Dougherty’s being to focus on “clearing higher heights and paving the way to make it to states once again.”

The girls’ track and field team are very excited to get the season under way. Along with Dougherty’s drive to make it back to states, the rest of the team has big goals for the 2019 season as well.
