Great moments when looking back on 2021 lacrosse

The Riverview Rams’ lacrosse playoff came to an end on April 16, but there were many great moments.

The Boys’ Varsity team started their playoffs with a demanding 17-2 win over the Venice Indians in the

District 12 semifinal game. This victory was led by Senior Sam Lehrman, with four goals. Lehrman was

accompanied with Senior Blake Quigley's three-goal performance.

After the semi-final victory, the Rams would go on to play the Gulf Coast Sharks, and because of the

undefeated district play by the Rams, this game was held in the Ram Bowl. The Rams had faced the

Sharks earlier in the season where they came out on top, so there was lots of confidence in the locker

room prior to the game. This confidence would prove to be impactful as the Rams won the District 12

championship.

After the district playoffs, the Rams entered regional play, where they would face the Newsome Wolves.

Unfortunately, the Rams would be defeated by the Wolves. The Wolves victory was led by Junior Luke

Haley. This past fall, Haley committed to play lacrosse at the University of Utah.

Although the season may not have ended the way the team wanted, Head Coach Pete Delisser still had

very proud words towards the team. Delisser believes that the 2021 Boys’ Varsity team is the best that

the program has seen yet.

Although the boys may have had a highly successful season, the girls Varsity team was right with them.

The Lady Rams would start their play-off run facing the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs in the District 11

Semi-finals. The Lady Rams came out with a 19-3 victory. With this victory, the Lady Rams would go on

to play the Newsome wolves for the district championship.

The Lady Rams would fall to the Wolves in a heartbreaking game. The score was tied at half, but the

wolves would run away with the victory at the end. Head Coach Ashley McLeod had many words

regarding the season.

“ I am very proud of girls and am looking forward to a great season next year,” said McLeod.
