Rams power through Lennard, get first district win of season

Riverview (3-1) had a very convincing win on Friday night's game against Lennard (2-1), defeating the Longhorns 49-26.

Riverview has to put up a good number of points after only having a combined 14 points the previous two games vs. Southeast and Venice. The Rams wasted no time getting on the scoreboard against Lennard after the defense forced a 3 and out. Quarterback Will Evans led the Rams' offense right down the field, and Evans capped it off with a 29-yard rushing touchdown to get the Rams rolling early.

After another 3 and out by the defense, the Rams were driving fast down the field, once again looking as though they were to take a double-digit lead early in the first, but then on a QB scramble, Evans had it stripped away, and Lennard returned it all the way for a score to tie things up. The Rams responded quickly, scoring touchdown after touchdown to keep extending the lead, and the Rams’ defense was on a mission in that first half, holding the Longhorns’ offense to zero points.

With 3 minutes remaining in the first half, the Rams had fourth and 2 on the Longhorns’ 40-yard line and decided to go for it. Poohdah Hayes Jr., however, fumbled after fighting for the first down, and Lennard recovered again and took it all the way to the Rams’ 1-yard line before a touchdown-saving tackle from QB Will Evans. Lennard eventually punched it in a few plays later to make it a 28-13 lead after halftime. Lennard brought the game to within 8 in the third quarter, but the Rams then quickly put the game out of reach for the Longhorns after a 46-

yard bomb from Evans to Duke Timmons and a 45-yard rushing touchdown for Poohdah Hayes Jr.

The Rams put the game out of reach with around seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter when the Rams blocked and recovered a punt in the endzone to secure the win over the Longhorns 49-26.

Looking ahead to Riverview High (Riverview FL)

The Rams are on a bye this Friday but will be back in action on Oct. 16 against the other Riverview in the state of Florida as they look to improve on an impressive record of 4-1. The Rams' offense certainly started to click in last week's game vs Lennard, and fans should expect to see more of that. The Riverview Sharks are 1-2 on the season, with their only win coming against Haines City, who has scored six points in four games on the season. Besides that shutout win, the Sharks’ defense has given up almost 100 points in their other two games this season, and their offense hasn’t given them much life either. Expect the Rams to come off a bye week and secure a huge victory over the Sharks.

Prediction 48-10 Rams
