Riverview High School’s variety of clubs celebrated Valentine’s Day by selling Valentine’s Day Rose-grams and “moralentines” for the students and faculty to participate in, as their way of appreciating friends or loved ones.

Valentine’s Day is a holiday celebrated annually across the world to appreciate those around you and celebrate friendships, anniversaries and express love. Feb. 14 is a day filled with love and happiness as partners and friends demonstrate appreciation and admiration. Whether spending a night in or going to dinner, loved ones spend this time surrounded by love and affection.

“For Valentine’s Day, I’m going to surprise my boyfriend with some gifts and then go to his favorite dinner place!” Julia Hocking ’22 said.

Riverview High School contributed to the celebration of Valentine’s Day through a variety of clubs, including Sophomore Board and Dance Marathon. Sophomore Board sold Valentine’s Day Rose-grams for the students and faculty to purchase and have delivered in first period Friday, Feb. 12. A beautiful rose with red ribbon and a note tied on was delivered and put a smile on Riverview Rams’ faces.

Dance Marathon also contributed to Valentine’s Day this year when morale captains sold “moralentines.” This fun play on words stands for “morale” and “Valentine” and created a fun way of selling more Valentines for a good cause. Moralentines are were only $1 each, so very affordable, and inclusive to all online and in person students. These Valentines were distributed during second period on Friday and surely made some Rams happy.

“Moralentines were something we decided was a good way to spread love and raise money for our club, Dance Marathon, which directly supports Johns Hopkins All Children’s Network!” said Georgia Flint ’22.

Riverview’s participation in Valentine’s Day has radiated happiness throughout school and definitely made some students very happy. A huge thank you goes out to Sophomore Board and Dance Marathon for bringing some smiles to our Riverview Rams’ faces.
