Ligon leads his team to success

The Riverview Rams’ Varsity baseball team is on its way to a successful season and future.

Although the Rams are off to a slow start with a record of 2-4, their future is still bright. The team has lots of young talent that will continue to develop as the season goes on. One young talent who stands out above the rest is sophomore Karson Ligon ‘21. Although he is young, he has already committed to the University of Miami on a full ride sports scholarship. Ligon is a pitcher for the Rams and has his own perspective on the future for the team.

“We are very young, so my expectations are for us to grow and compete getting ready for our later seasons,” he said.

Although he is young, he is one of the leaders on the team, and his teammates look to him for guidance. Most people would see being a team leader as a chore, but he loves the pressure and just tries to have fun. His favorite part about being on the team is how even when they lose, everyone keeps a positive attitude and everyone is very good friends.

Ligon is proud of the progress that the team has made, considering that their coaches are fairly knew. Although the coaches have only been there for a year, Ligon explained that they still make sure they compete and keep practices intense. The team practices five to six times a week for two hours and sometimes even longer.

If the team continues these work habits, Ligon and the coaching staff believe that they can turn the season around and continue to be successful on the field.
