Legendary slam dunk by Malachi Wideman


CRUSHING THE COMPETITION--Malachi Wideman '21 gets warmed up at one of the games for the "Elite One" team that for which he played during the summer.

 

All high school athletes want to be recognized by their favorite legendary professional athletes. All athletes have dreams of making it big one day like their favorite professional athletes. But, not all people are as fortunate as Riverview star basketball player, Malachi Wideman ‘20, who got the chance of a lifetime to play alongside the sons of legendary basketball players LeBron James and Dwayne Wade.

There were a couple of viral videos that have been blowing up all throughout the social media of Wideman unleashing a huge dunk at a basketball game in Las Vegas. At the time, Wideman was playing on a one-teach-one team in Orlando. The team traveled all throughout the country competing in tournaments. The game that was held in Las Vegas was the game that Lebron James and Dwayne Wade attended.

When Wideman made that huge slam dunk, viewers can tell in the video that James and Wade were very impressed to see such talent at such a young age.

Wideman explained how it feels to play in front of amazing professional basketball players and alongside with their sons.

“Well, it’s always a nervous feeling to play in front of the most legendary basketball players ever. But, it makes me feel good to be able to make plays when it counts. All in all, basketball is great,”exclaimed Wideman.

The sophomore has accomplished quite a lot of goals at such a young age and continues to do so. Getting that kind of reaction from prominent basketball players LeBron James and Dwayne Wade will forever motivate Wideman’s basketball career.
