Since last March, there have been very few opportunities for fans to see their favorite artists at concerts and music festivals, but live music seems to be returning slowly, with many safety procedures in place.
Concerts will not look the same as they did before the pandemic. Music venues will be following spacing guidelines, providing sanitation stations, posting mask requirement, and offering limited capacities. Artists will no longer have close contact with fans, as meet-and- greets will be canceled.
Many artists have yet to announce touring because they are waiting to see how COVID plays out. Some artists feel confident in touring right now, while others feel it is too risky.
The popular music festival, Bonnaroo, in Manchester, TE has been continuously rescheduled as new developments regarding COVID have come up. Last year’s 2020 festival was canceled, due to virus concerns, but this year the festival is trying its best to ensure an exciting concert series for eager fans.
The festival will now be taking place from Sept. 2-5. The performers include many fan favorites including Miley Cyrus, The 1975, Lizzo, Lana Del Ray, and more.
Coachella, one of the most talked-about music festivals among celebrities and influencers, was canceled in 2020 because of COVID. The popular music event that takes place in Indio, CA was trying to plan the event for 2021, but organizers decided that it is too early to hold such an event at this time. Hopefully, by next April, fans can go to the thrilling concert series in California.
Lollapalooza, a music festival held in Chicago, is scheduled to take place this year. While the festival's lineup has yet to be announced, it is scheduled to take place from July 29 to Aug. 1.
The country’s largest music festival, which takes place in Milwaukee, WI was pushed from summer to fall. The festival, Summerfest, has yet to release its lineup, but it has decided it will take place over multiple weekends in September, including the Sept. 2-4, 9-11, and 16-18.
Upcoming local concerts include Justin Bieber at Amalie Arena on Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. and Maroon 5 at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.
Also, concerts from Harry Styles on October 7 at 8:00 PM at the Amway Center, as well as Oct. 10 at 8:00 PM at Amalie Arena, Maluma on Oct. 8 at 8:00 PM at the Amway Center, Tame Impala on Oct. 17 at 8:00 PM at the Amway Center, and more are planned to perform this year.
For those eager to hear live music again, be on the lookout for tickets, as well as announcements, because more events will come up as scientists learn more about Covid.
