The long-awaited film about the hero of the Avengers, Captain Marvel, releases March 8.. It is about a woman named Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel, who gets caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.
Marvel fans have long anticipated the movie about this hero, who is set to defeat the villain Thanos, who first made his appearance in the first Avengers film in 2012. This movie is a prequel to any of the other Marvel movies, and it is set in the 90s, introducing the beginnings of this strong female hero.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, a website which analyzes and critiques movies, numerous reviews were left about how this origin story is unlike any other, how Captain Marvel empowers women, and how the Marvel universe now feels more complete.
With a budget of $152 million, this movie is planned to exceed everyone’s expectations and portray the strongest Marvel hero very powerfully.
Some enthusiastic Marvel fans from Riverview had some thoughts on this movie, and what it is planned to entail.
“I’m a huge fan of Captain Marvel, and I think it was a brilliant idea for Marvel to make a film adaptation of the beloved comic series. I also can’t wait to see how the events may tie into the Avengers series,” Carson Taylor ’19 said.
“I haven’t seen a lot of Marvel movies, but as far as I know, it’s predominantly men, so I like seeing female representation play such a strong role in this movie and the upcoming Avengers movie,” Sarah Pollack ’19 stated.
“I mean it looks good enough, but I’d much rather see the new Spider-Man: Far From Home, or the Avengers: Endgame,” Blake Johnson ’19 said.
Since Captain Marvel comes out a little over a month before the highly anticipated conclusion of the Avengers series, Avengers: Endgame, a lot of attention is on the Marvel universe as a whole in that upcoming movie.
Most people do plan to see this movie, because it should be seen before the last Avengers movie comes out. Fans are extremely excited to see the introduction of this hero, and then the huge battle she will partake in with the other Avengers by her side.
